Mike amiot - President
Mike was commissioned as the Great Plains Area Director for Chi Alpha Campus Ministries – USA in 2010. Mike has served with Chi Alpha for the past 23 years, first as a campus missionary to Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN (1995-2001), then as the full-time district director for the state of MN (2001-present).
During his years serving as a district director, Mike was part of many national committees to help further the work of Chi Alpha throughout the country. He headed initiatives on advancement, healthy staff, and led a committee to look at restructuring Chi Alpha. He loves thinking strategically about ministry and systems. He is passionate about doing things better than they have been done. His continued focus is developing sustainable models in campus ministry.
As part of his current role as the Area Director, Mike is committed to the development of healthy staff and ministries. He truly loves the staff he works with. One of his primary responsibilities is to oversee the vision and development of the annual student and staff conferences and has done so for the past 15 years.
Mike is a currently a minister with the Assemblies of God and lives in Savage, MN with his wife and 2 kids.
Brad Novosad - Vice President
Brad, his wife Shelley, and their four children live in Nebraska where Brad serves as the Southern Great Plains Area Director for Chi Alpha Campus Ministries, an Assemblies of God outreach on college campuses. He has worked with Chi Alpha since 1997, with a short hiatus from 2007-2009 when God called him to serve as the Executive Pastor at Grace Church in Chapel Hill, NC. During his time with Chi Alpha Brad has worked in a variety of roles. He started as the Chi Alpha Director at The University of Nebraska and he planted and lead Chi Alpha ministries at NC State University and UNC-Chapel Hill in North Carolina.
Brad's current role in the Great Plains involves leading and organizing leadership and evangelism training conferences, developing growth and pioneering strategies, and continuing to cast vision for Chi Alpha and pioneer new campus ministries. Brad's passion is training new Chi Alpha leaders and missionaries and helping them to be successful in reaching more college students for the Lord.
Brad's experience also extends beyond Chi Alpha, to church planter assessment trainings, leadership seminars, and support raising trainings. With his experience working and being a leader in the missions field, and his qualifications as a certifications as a Mensa member, a Certified Behavior Consultant with Uniquely You, and a Certified Lead Assessor for Church Planting, Brad is uniquely equipped to help student leaders become more successful in their ministry, and to help missions groups and missionaries cast vision and minister successfully.
Shawn Dockter - Treasurer
Shawn is the president and CEO of Heggies pizza. He took this mom and pop business and made it into one of the most sought after frozen pizzas in the midwest. He is a graduate from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. After a stint working for Lockheed Martin, Shawn found his way back to Minnesota to take over Heggies pizza.
Rebecca Haavik - Secretary
Rebecca Haavik is a Minnesota native and graduate from the University of Minnesota Duluth with degrees in International Studies and Spanish. After serving with True North AmeriCorps, a state AmeriCorps program, she worked with the Duluth YMCA coordinating both the Mentor Superior and True North AmeriCorps programs. Rebecca is a graduate of the Douglas County Leadership Program and holds a certificate in Nonprofit Administration and Fund Development from the University of Wisconsin Superior's Continuing Education program. Rebecca currently serves as a Campus Missionary Associate with Chi Alpha Campus Ministries at the University of Minnesota Duluth and works as a development Director for Great Plains Chi Alpha.
Brian Pingel - Director
Brian is a leader who has a passion to help people become all they were created to be. He currently serves as the lead Pastor for First Assembly church in Cedar Rapids, IA. First Assembly is a vibrant community focused on helping develop passionate people on a journey to live the life of Jesus. Brian leads a team of leaders that works to impact over 1,200 people each week.
Brian served as an associate professor at North Central University for 10 years. As the director of the Center for Youth & Leadership he oversaw the Youth Ministry, Youth Development Studies & Urban Development majors. His primary teaching focus was on leadership development, strategic community development, care giving for those in need and Bible courses.
Brian has served as a pastor in local churches for over 20 years in a variety of roles and has been a sought after speaker and consultant for churches and conferences around the country. In 2008 Brian developed and launched Think Transitions, a program to help churches launch their high school graduates into the next phase of their life.
Brian & his wife Kristi currently reside in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Dr. Scott Yorkovich - Director
Scott has lived most of his life in Minnesota, but still feels deeply drawn to his home state of Pennsylvania with its rolling, green mountains and historical foundations. He gave his life to Christ as a young teenager and ever since he has been motivated by helping others discover their true spiritual identity and God’s design for their life. Today, he and his family have their home in Vadnais Heights, MN and they enjoy traveling to anywhere that is tropical, historical, or both.
Scott graduated from North Dakota State University with a double major in psychology and sociology. In mid life, he returned to school and earned a master’s degree in organizational leadership and a doctorate in strategic leadership (both from Regent University). With this training and gifting for leadership and teaching, Scott’s career has focused on consulting, coaching, teaching, and writing. He has worked with thousands, individually and in organizations, helping them to be more effective at home, work, church, and community.
For leisure, Scott’s favorite activities include reading, biking, and photography. His favorite place to be is wherever his wife Julie and their twin sons can be found.
